Neuma utilizes
independent medical underwriters to determine life
expectancies. These underwriters have extensive experience in
the viatical and life settlement industry. They direct a
network of medical specialists including, but not limited to,
internists, cardiologists, oncologists, geriatric specialists
and infectious disease specialists.
To obtain a life expectancy, a minimum of three
years of medical records is generally submitted to the
underwriter including attending physician reports, consulting
physician reports and laboratory data. The underwriter often
discusses the case directly with the physician. The
underwriter then refers to standard insurance underwriting
manuals to determine a percent mortality and applies this data
to a standard actuarial table to arrive at a life
expectancy. |
